Marquetry is another direction of NAMI studio. Alongside mineral wall panels, we explore furniture and interior objects as material concepts. This collection presents concept pieces and visual prototypes created to demonstrate our approach to marquetry — a handcrafted technique based on natural straw and wood veneer. These objects are not mass-produced items or ready stock. They serve as references for custom commissions, developed further in dialogue with each client and adapted to specific projects.
Each piece shown here represents a conceptual starting point. Final objects are created individually, based on selected references and project requirements. Form, scale, material combinations, and details may evolve during the process.
Marquetry at NAMI is a collaborative and material-driven process. Furniture and objects are shaped through dialogue between hand, material, and time — not predefined templates. Each project begins with exploration rather than replication.
Detail is where marquetry becomes intimate. Natural straw fibers, veneer grains, joints, and transitions reveal the trace of the hand. Irregularities and subtle variations are not flaws, but part of the material language.
These objects are conceived as functional art — created to live within space, not to dominate it. They are designed to be used, touched, and integrated into interiors as material statements rather than decorative accents.
